how well will you age?

How well  with you age?  Is there more to looking young than just vanity? There was a study done on twins and the twins that looked younger ended up outliving their twin!!  So, now taking care of your skin and wanting to look younger is more than just for vanity reasons!!  Plus, if we are going to live longer, why not look younger too?

Click on the link to read more and to take a skin age test to see where you line up http://www.realage.com/look-young-stay-sharp/simply-beautiful-skin/skin-age-test.  I took the test and my skin age results were 28 years old, not bad for my real age of 41...must be the 85 DermaSweep skin rejuvenation treatments I've had!!

If you don't like the results of your skin age test, then make some changes!!  If you smoke, stop smoking ASAP!!  Are you wearing sunscreen on a regular basis?  If not start today!!  Smoking and sun exposure are the two main things that cause premature aging.   Along with not smoking and using sunscreen, be sure to take your vitamins and minerals, eat a well balanced diet and drink plenty of water.    In addition to this, be sure to use medical or pharmaceutical grade skin care products, get professional chemical peels or microdermabrasion (DermaSweep) to exfoliate the dead skin that builds up as we age and get laser procedures...all of which will help either slow down pre-mature aging or even turn back the clock if you're lucky!

what would you look like with botox, fillers or even a nose job?

Ever wonder what you would look like with that nose you have always wanted, bigger lips or a wrinkle-free forehead?  Well, now with a makeover tool on NewBeauty.com you can upload a picture of yourself and see what you would look like if you had any number of procedures done.  Try it and see what you would look like with botox, lip augmentation, cheek augmentation and a brow lift like Heidi Montag had.  This tool might make it easier to make those decisions of should I or shouldn't I.  Go to http://www.newbeauty.com/makeover-tool.aspx to try it for youself, you might like what you see...or not like what you see, but it's still fun!!

get your skin glowing again

Do you want to get your skin glowing again?  You can with a few tips from Dr. Oz's blog and a few product and treatment suggestions from me!

You don't need a spa vacation to give your looks a midwinter pick-me-up (but if someone gives you one, don't turn it down; or if you can't go, call us!). You don't even need an arsenal of products. Just get these basics right:

  • Watch what you're washing. You have an acid mantle (like cellophane) that forms a protective layer on your skin to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. If your skin loses this acidity, it becomes more prone to damage and infection. How do you lose the acidity? By washing your face with the wrong soap. Use pH-balanced soaps and cleansers. We like solid soaps because they tend to be made with a minimum of ingredients
  • I like CosMedic Skin Care's Gentle Foaming Cleanser (great for fragile/sensitive/normal skin), AFA Cream Cleanser (great for dry/aging/normal skin), iS Clinical Cleansing Complex (great for oily/acneic skin).

  • Add some A, but only at night. The vitamin A family, commonly called retinoids, can increase the actual water content of your skin without clogging the dead layer of cells (and making skin look dull). Retin-A contains retinoic acid and requires a prescription. Retinyl propionate, retinyl palmitate, and retinol (retinaldehyde) don't require a prescription. Ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun converts this to something that ages your skin, so go for vitamin A only after dark.
  • I like Retriderm Vitamin A Serums, which comes in three different strengths and can even be used on sensitive skin.

  • Exfoliate. Encourage new cells to grow by cleaning your skin daily or weekly with a light physical (feels gritty) or chemical exfoliant.
  • As we age, our dead skin sloughs off at a slower rate, so we need to use an at-home product as well as get professional exfoliation treatments.  For an at-home exfoliant, I like Prescribed Solutions Exfoliating Polish or Nia 24 Physical Cleansing Scrub.  For a fabulous professional exfoliation, I get regular DermaSweep micro-resurfacing treatments, which not only exfoliates the dead skin, but also creates circulation and rejuvenation.  Go to www.DermaSweep.com to find a trained skin care professional near you.

  • Seal moisture in. Apply moisturizer while you're still damp from the shower, and reapply as needed.
Moisturizing the skin is very important, and you shouldn't forget to moisturize the body along with the face.  For the face, I like iS Clinical Youth Complex followed by CosMedic Skin Secure Tinted SPF.  I like Prescribed Solutions Correction Fluid Anti-Aging Night Cream and for the body iS Clinical Body Complex.

It's never too late to get glowing, gorgeous, healthy radiant skin!!

aging at a snail's pace

Growth factor is a buzzword we have all heard about in the skin care field...well there is a new skin care line called Tensage that contains a unique growth factor.  After years of research, European scientists discovered a unique technology to repair and prevent damage to the skin: SCA Biorepair Technology (growth factor from snail secretion).  Growth factor helps skin regenerate tissue that is lost in the aging process and helps prevent further breakdown.  Tensage comes in various growth factor strengths and helps with fine lines and wrinkles, increased hydration, and faster recovery post-procedure.  My personal favorite are the ampoules, which have the highest level of growth factor.  To find out more about Tensage products, go to http://www.biopelle.com/products/consumers/tensage/.

sweep this sisters from corinna b's world blog

Sooo. I've been dying to tell you about this skin treatment I had a few weeks ago. Too fab! You've all probably heard of microdermabrasion, the process where you get a maximo exfoliation via a cool machine that uses crushed up crystals or diamond point to take the top coat off your skin & suck it up a little hose. Something along the lines of taking a sandblaster to your face. I have long been a major fan of it. In fact, I have had a microderm before every big event or special occasion, so that my skin looks smooth.

Well, there's a new sheriff in town, and his name is DermaSweep. And I have to say this is one of the most innovative, exciting things I've seen in a very long time! Its a similar principal - kind of - but that's where the similarities end. Dermasweep uses specially bevelled bristles to lift away dead skin. Unlike the particulate systems this doesn't scratch the new skin beneath it. Traditional microderm uses a pushing motion, Dermasweep utilizes a lifting motion, which actually promotes circulation leaving your skin more robust and glowing. This lifting motion not only takes away the skin debris, but cleans out all the pores at the same time.

There is a selection of bristle heads for the operator to choose from, so that even those with the finest, most delicate and sensitive skin can have this treatment and love it. Ladies with very fine skin have typically been exempt from traditional microderm treatments, but now they have an option too. The entire process is fully customizeable and can be personalized to provide the most inclusive skin care system in the world.

Traditional microderm leaves you with grit all through your hairline, inside your nose and in your ears, and frequently there is a peeling occuring a couple of days later, as well as day of treatment redness. So if you have an event you have to schedule a microderm several days out. With Dermasweep there is no grit on the skin, in the hairline etc, so you can have a treatment on the same day as your event. Which is exactly what actresses & musicians & celebs do on the day of award shows (think Oscars, Golden Globes, Emmys, Music awards) and major events. And if its good enough for them, its good enough for us! There is also no peeling and no redness. I can't even tell you how fabulous the skin looks after a treatment! I had mine three weeks ago now, and it is still absolutely glowing. (and I am soooo loving that!!!)

Dermasweep is a 2 part process. The second part of the process is an infusion. Depending on what your skin's needs are, the technician/aesthetician will create a cocktail of fabulous solutions (which are paraben free) to infuse deep into the skin with the machine. By reversing the vacuum they can send product significantly deeper into the skin than you can with a manual application. The infusions deal with everything from hydration (me!) to acne, to sundamage to hyperpigmentation, to photo damage, to surgical scars(!!!) to uneven skin texture and many more skin conditions. After the infusion your skin looks beyond amazing. Make up glides on smoothly and perfectly. No wonder celebs are so on top of this thing! Depending on your skin needs you can have a course of treatments (for conditions such as acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines & wrinkles, overall skin tone and texture, chronic dehydration etc) or you can have single treatments for special events.

For me the bottom line with any skin care product or skin treatment is, do I see an immediate difference in my skin? I want to see it, feel it, know it, right away. And I'm not interested in any 5 minute miracles - I want to see continued benefit over time. I have to say with Dermasweep I saw a drastic difference in my skin as soon as she had completed the treatment. And it is still looking that way. People are constantly commenting on my skin too, which is always a good sign. Dermasweep treatments are performed in dayspas and medi spas, as well as in doctors offices. To find a Dermasweep location near you check out the website at Dermasweep.com

I honestly can't recommend strongly enough that you try this out. I love, love, love it!!! Posted by Corinna B at 2:38 PM
